Report

With 80 Dressage entries and a 101 Show Jumping entries the Warrington Riding Club show proved a very popular venue this weekend on the riding club circuit.
A last miunte rush when the weather turned extremely bleak saw the Show Jumping pushed back to 1pm and the Dressage sensibly moved from grass to the sand arenas.
The show started at 9am with the dressage and it was 12 hours later that the last riders collected their ribbons on the Showjumping classes.

The dressage was very popular with people gearing up for the eventing season.
Sue Owens on Cracker Jack, from the Waterford Club took the Primary class, from the host club rider Helen Dillon on Impeccably Tailored.
Host club rider Stephanie Downes & Midland Piper won the Advanced Primary dressage in front of local Thomastown club rider Caroline Holden & Miss Nova Scotia, both fending off stiff competition from 34 other riders in this very popular class.
Another big entry of 25 in the Intermediate section saw the eventual winner Eimear Murphy & George, from Carne making her travel from Wexford worthwhile, ahead of Hazel McCarthy & Stoneheaven Welcome from Waterford In the Advanced Intermediate it was again a Carne Club rider that took
all the beating. Ann Lambert & Gold Dancer took the honours from
another local rider Jo Forde on Western Rebel from Nuenna Farm in a close fought contest.
Local club Nuenna Farm featured again when Hanna Biorremark on
Fairflex completed a super test winning the Advanced Open/Open
dressage from Nicki Colley & Stoneheavan Billie of the Waterford Club.

The Show Jumping began early in the afternoon and Patrica Berry & Golden Opportunity from Three Rocks had a great day out scoring closest to the optimum time to take the Primary Show Jumping competition.
Of the 101 entries in the Show Jumping Classes, the biggest classes of the day were the Advanced Primary and Intermediate classes with 32 competitors a piece.
Only a handful of riders made it through to the second round in the Advanced Primary class, again on optimum time, but this was a hard fought competition with eventual winner being Russelstown rider, Claire Caplice & Ralphie Babes, in front of Warrington rider Pat Mahon on Candy.
The Intermediate track again saw many fall by the wayside in the first round, leaving ten riders to battle for the placings. Those that achieved fast double clears received the ribbons. Bellines Patricia Molloy had 2 through to the jump off in the form of Cramer & Cottagetown Duke but it was the latter campaigner, Cottagestown Duke, who stopped the clock fastest in front of Warringtons Anne Phelan & her evergreen Meadow Flight to take the honours.
Waterfords Johnny Widger riding Stoneheaven Welcome took the young horse
class from 2nd placed Mary Hally & Lizzie from Coolbell.
Only six of the sixteen riders made the jump off in the Advanced Intermediate & it was Coolbell rider Kevin Veale stole the class on Coolbell Brady following up on his victory from last weekend. Clare Nulty came home in 2nd place for the host club on board Cavalier Charisma.
Ten riders took on the Open & Advanced Open Handicap class, and only 3 riders posted clears, two of those being Open riders and 1 Adv. Open rider. 5 other riders on 4 faults were left to jump off for the minor ribbons. Adv. Open rider Kieran Cahill on Rex BB was aiming for a one two after last weeks vicotry in this class, and posted a good clear against the clock. However the Waterford duo of Ciara Power & Nicky Colley had other ideas, and Ciara stopped the clock a second up to take the class from Cajill, with Colley taking 3rd place.
